On the 11th – 15th March 2020 the Tukur and Tukur Foundation carried out Free Medical Outreach, Free Eye Screening, Cataract Surgery and Distribution of Assistive Devices in Panda and its communities in Karu Local Govt, Nassarawa state,
Close to about 1000 members of the communities were consulted, treated and drugs were given to them free by the medical team of the Foundation, some of the diseases and the sicknesses that were treated includes :
Malaria and Typhoid fever, General body pain & weaknesses, Diabetes mellitus, Hypertension, Fungi infection, Cough & Catarrh, Deworming, Diarrhoea, Ulcer.
While the Eye Team provided free eye screening, reading glasses, those with minor eye problems like conjunctivitis, eye pain, eye itching, reddish eye, etc were provided with drugs, eye ointments and eye drops.
While over 20 members of the communities have Cataract, the surgery was conducted on them and was successful.
Other activities carried out by Tukur and Tukur Foundation in Panda includes Health Education talk, free medical consultations where members of the communities were been advice on the need and important of improving personal and environmental hygiene, How to prevent communicable diseases, also awareness talk on Lassa Fever , Convid 19, Diabetes, Hypertension, etc.
The foundation gave out Assistive Devices to those with physical disabilities of the communities to aid & support them in carrying out their daily activities, of the assistive devices were given to Panda General Hospital in order to improve their services delivery, these were presented to His Royal Highness Odyong Nyankpa to be given to the General Hospital by Dr Saba Muhammed on behalf of the Foundation… In his remarks HRH the Odyong of Nyanpka
expressed his gratitude to Almighty for making his communities beneficiary of such a wonderful gesture from Tukur and Tukur Foundation, he prayed for the foundation and its members for their selfless humanitarian services and he also called upon well-meaning Nigerians both in Nigeria and Diaspora to support the Foundation to enable them reach out to more communities and touch more lives…
Lastly, the beneficiaries most especially those that had free cataract surgery expressed their gratitude’s in words by saying they were highly impressed and felt delighted by having free consultation, free surgery, drugs all for free which their families couldn’t afford…….
